Different readings.
Reasons worth hearing.
Christians often share a passage while disagreeing about what it means. Meet the main approaches, the biblical reasons behind them, and the questions each must answer.
Each guide explains the major views in plain language and links to fuller arguments from their advocates. Read a position on its own terms before comparing it with a criticism. The guides cover the main disagreements while recognizing differences within each tradition. They also explain when a view is accepted by some churches and rejected by others.
Some questions ask what happened in history. Others ask about doctrine, meaning a church’s teaching about faith and practice. We explain the difference and point out where approaches can be combined. Terms such as Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestant describe large families with differences within them.
